Googling about, I discovered
headland to be the meaning of the Gaelic word
ros, from which my surname derives. As I envisioned this little blog, I took pleasure in the image of a minor promontory, defiantly jutting its steadfast face out to the sea. I also relished another connotation: that of a place where I would try to use my head, and, I trust, encourage those who read my jottings to do the same.
